TOPIC: Chasers on RGB fixtures

I tried to use chasers on generic RGB fixtures. As they work on channels, and I want chase fixtures and not induvidual RGB channels, I had to set up groups. One group would contain 3 channels of one RGB fixture. I marked the groups to control their channels in "unison".

Well, it does not work for me, It seems that the program understands the first group (which contains unison RGB channels of the first fixture). But the rest of the fixtures do not have white color when chasing. The second one is blue, 3rd is green and 4th is red.

What I really want to do is to make chasers work on RGB fixtures, not the individual channels. Also, I would like to be able to select the rgb-colors for that chase.

I'm not really sure why putting RGB channels into groups as you described did not work as expected. What fixture are you using? Make sure that all the groups are set to unison. You can also create your own chasers by grouping channels. Example:

A-B-C-D can be made RGB like this: ABC-DEF-GHI-JKL

Once you have them all chasing in white, try this:

Double-click on one of the RGB fixtures in the project window to bring-up the Edit Fixture Settings window. Now, change the merge mode of the Red, Green and Blue channels to LOTP. Do this for each of your RGB fixtures.

Now, create another lamp track and drag all of the RGB channels (RGB channels, not the separate Red, Green and Blue sub channels) from the project window into the new lamp track.

Now drag a Level Control effect into the new track and line it up with your chaser.

Since both tracks are linked to the same channels, you can adjust the colors of the chasing RGB lamps using the Level Control envelopes.

If this isn't clear, let me know and I'll zip you up a project file and a timeline.

Let me know how it goes.

Good luck!

Thank you for the hints.

Creating own chasers by grouping channels works fine. Changing their colors from white using LOTP works fine, thank you!

However grouping 3 channels of each generic RGB fixture to one "unison" group and using them in "normal" chasers does not work.

The fixtures are "generic RGB". I also tried to group RGB channels of some other RGB fixtures and was watching the result of the chasers in Lamp Preview Window.

The version where it happens is 2.0.9.6

I have been unable to reproduce this problem. Could you email your project and timeline file(s) to danolan@venuemagic.com? I'd like to see what's going on.

Thanks,

Don Nolan
