I have a lot of experience with show control for museums and themeparks, and think your software has a lot of potential. Many similarities to Wings Platinum by AV Stumpfl (Austrian show control company), which is a complement.

I'm spec'ing software for a new show installation now that needs to coordinate DMX lighting and 24 channels of audio via MIDI triggers. I think your software has it covered... if it weren't for the 24 channel requirement (I'm using a MOTU 24IO as a 24 channel sound card). Am I missing something? I can't find a way to use more than 2 channels of output? Ideally, I'd like to assign whichever audio channels I want to each audio track in a timeline (just like DMX lighting channels in a lamp track). Did I miss this feature?

It's got to handle dozens of channels of audio to be a serious contender in the world of "show control" -- looking forward to your reply.

Thanks,
Matt

We have the multi-channel audio specced for our Live version due out later this year. How soon would you need VenueMagic to do that?

The shows are opening in May, so I would guess no later than March or there won't be time for programming. In any case, I'm not sure I'd want this multi-million dollar project to be the guinea pig! We can't afford to have ANY technical issues. I will be interested to see the software when it comes out, though... there's always the next set of projects.

I definately agree on the technical issues. The design goal of VenueMagic Live is zero tolerance for crashes and problems. This will allow us to fully support industries and projects like yours. What kind of project cycle are you on? Six month or 1 Year?

Time cycle varies widely, sometimes two projects a year, more commonly two years per project! Well, projects of this size anyway -- we do dozens of smaller projects each year as well, but most of those don't need full blown audio/lighting software, we just use off-the-shelf hardware from the likes of Gilderfluke or Alcorn McBride.

Given that this is what you do, you are probably familiar with all your comparables, but if not you should definitely download the demos and fool around with AV Stumpfl's Wing Platinum (Austrian company) and Medialon Manage (French, I believe). Both have timeline based programming -- Wings is the best/easiest to program out there, but you need their hardware to run many timelines simultaneously (will your software support that function?-- another critical feature for complex shows). Medialon Manager is essentially limitless, but (a) expensive, and (b) requires you to know quite a bit about computers to make it behave -- definitely not entry level software.
