Hello,

I just upgraded to VenueMagic DMXAV from the previous 2.1 version and now I get an error message whenever I try to start the program.

It says "The procedure entry point _ftol2 could not be located in the dynamic link library msvcrt.dll". And the program will not start.

I have had no problems with the previous version. I am running Window XP SP3 fully updated on a Compaq nc6220 Laptop.

Please let me know what I need to do to fix the problem. By the way this is an awesome program.

I would recommend doing a full uninstall to start. Then reinstall DMXAV as a new install. If that doesn't help, delete the Application Data folder inside your User/Documents/VenueMagic folder. This will reset your display settings back to the original. Please let us know as we would like to resolve this ASAP.

Thanks for the fast reply. I did everything as you said. Did a total uninstall, deleted the application folder and even updated my video driver. Rebooted and reinstalled the program and still get the same error. I read some other forums on this problem and it appears to be an issue with video and/or Visual C++ and the msvcrt.dll file. Maybe I need to update the msvcrt.dll file on my computer. I don't know. This is over my head. Let me know what you think.

This is our problem (actually it's Microsoft's, but we'll take responsibility for it in this instance). In the file explorer, go to "Program FilesESGVenueMagic DMXAV" and delete the following files:
dsound.dll
opengl32.dll
sensapi.dll
setupapi.dll

Then run VenueMagic from that folder by double-clicking on VMAV.exe.

That should fix it for now. Meanwhile, we'll have a fix up on the website shortly.

The fix is up on the website now, feel free to download it. You will need to uninstall your current version first.
